Iran's interim Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani has emphasized the importance of developing relations with India, stating that it will have a significant impact on regional peace and stability.

Iran (IMNA) - In a message to Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on India's Independence Day, August 15, Bagheri Kani expressed his congratulations and good wishes to the people and government of India.

The Iranian foreign minister noted that the growing relationship between Iran and India plays a crucial role in promoting peace, stability, and development in the region. The two countries have been working to strengthen their ties in recent years, with a notable agreement signed in May for the operation and equipment of the southern Iranian port city of Chabahar.

Under the 10-year contract, Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization will hand over parts of the freight and container terminals of the Shahid Beheshti Port to India, while India will invest $120 million in strategic equipment for the port and $250 million in transport infrastructure. The agreement aims to boost bilateral trade and economic relations between the two countries.
