Iran's new president blasts US, west for enabling Israel's 'crimes' in Gaza

In a phone conversation with Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin on Monday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian criticized the United States and some Western states for their indifference and support, which he claims has encouraged the Israeli regime to continue its "crimes" in Gaza.

Iran (IMNA) - Pezeshkian expressed his appreciation for the Vatican's stance on supporting peace, stability, and security in the world, but urged a more active role in immediately stopping the "crimes" of the Zionist regime in Gaza, lifting the blockade on the besieged enclave, and supplying humanitarian aid to the people through international organizations and humanitarian organizations.

The Iranian president also highlighted the Israeli regime's recent assassination of Hamas politburo chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, stressing that Iran reserves the right to defend itself against aggressors in accordance with international law.

Cardinal Pietro Parolin congratulated Pezeshkian on his victory in Iran's recent elections and expressed his interest in expanding ties between Iran and the Vatican. The Vatican official also emphasized the need for an immediate stop to the killing of civilians in Gaza and called for an immediate ceasefire in the region as his government's main stance.
