Iran Warns UN of Israel's Efforts to Expand Gaza War to Entire Region

Iran's ambassador to the United Nations, Amir-Saeed Iravani, has sounded the alarm at the UN Security Council, warning that Israel is attempting to expand its aggression against the Gaza Strip to the entire region.

Iran (IMNA) - Speaking at an emergency meeting on Wednesday, Iravani condemned Israel's assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas's political bureau, in Tehran, and its recent targeted killing of a senior Hezbollah commander in Beirut. He accused Israel of showing "complete disregard for the basic norms and principles of international law" and warned that its actions are a "lack of commitment to peace and stability in the region."

Iravani slammed Israel's actions as a violation of international law and the UN Charter, as well as a breach of Iran's sovereignty and national security. He emphasized that the assassination is part of a broader pattern of terrorism by Israel against Palestinians and their supporters.

The Iranian envoy also criticized the US for its support of Israel, stating that without American authorization and intelligence support, the assassination could not have occurred. He urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to take decisive action to address these violations and hold perpetrators accountable.

Iravani warned that Iran reserves its right to self-defense under international law and will respond decisively when necessary to protect its sovereignty and national security. The Iranian government has repeatedly warned of the consequences of Israel's aggressive actions for regional and international peace and security.
