Ayatollah Khamenei Leads Funeral Prayers for Assassinated Hamas Leader, Vows Harsh Retaliation Against Israel

In a solemn ceremony at Tehran University, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei led funeral prayers for Ismail Haniyeh, the political bureau chief of Hamas, and his security guard Wasim Abu Shaaban, who were assassinated during a visit to Tehran on Wednesday.

iRAN (imna) - The massive crowd of mourners gathered to pay their respects to the fallen leaders, who were in Iran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of newly-elected President Masoud Pezeshkian. Preliminary investigations suggest that the Israeli regime and the Joe Biden administration gave the green light for the assassination plot.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf addressed the ceremony, slamming the Israeli regime's desperation in the face of resistance fighters and warning that targeting the resistance front will not have the desired impact on regional developments. He also emphasized that Israel will pay a "heavy price" for its actions.

Ayatollah Khamenei himself warned Israel of a "harsh response" for the assassination, stating that it is the Islamic Republic's duty to avenge Haniyeh's blood. He vowed that Israel will face punishment for its actions, saying that it has "set the ground for a harsh punishment for itself."
