Iran, France eye new era of ties: Pezeshkian sees mutual trust as key to progress

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian issued a stern warning to Israel during a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday, stating that the Israeli regime will face "heavy" consequences if it makes the mistake of attacking Lebanon.

Iran (IMNA) - Iran's new President Masoud Pezeshkian held a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, during which Macron congratulated Pezeshkian on his election victory and welcomed his approach to foreign policy.

Macron expressed hope that relations between Iran and France, as well as with other European countries, will improve in the new era. Pezeshkian highlighted the long-standing ties between the two nations and expressed Tehran's readiness to strengthen relations based on honesty and mutual trust. The presidents also discussed various issues, including sanctions, the Ukraine war, Gaza and Lebanon developments, and JCPOA-related negotiations.

Pezeshkian expressed his deep concern over the escalating tensions in Lebanon's southern border with the occupied Israeli territories, which have been running high since a deadly rocket attack on Saturday.

Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that the Islamic Republic is willing to exert every effort to help resolve the crisis in Gaza and bring about peace and stability to the region. In a statement, Pezeshkian expressed his hope that other countries will fulfill their responsibilities towards the people of Gaza who are facing oppression.
