UN's Top Court Slams Israeli Occupation as "Illegal", Calls for Immediate Withdrawal

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has issued a landmark ruling, breaking its silence on the Israeli occupation of Palestine, declaring it "illegal" and demanding that Israel end its occupation of Palestinian territories "as rapidly as possible".

Iran (IMNA) - The 15-judge panel found multiple breaches of international law, including activities amounting to apartheid, and called on Israel to make full reparations for its "internationally wrongful acts".

The ruling comes amid ongoing Israeli bombardments and shooting attacks in the Gaza Strip, which have resulted in a death toll of 38,983 martyrs and over 89,727 wounded. The UN court's decision is non-binding, but it carries significant moral and legal weight, recognizing the rights of the Palestinian nation.

Palestinian authorities welcomed the decision, with the office of President Mahmoud Abbas hailing it as a "historic" moment. The International Community has also reacted swiftly, with South Africa lauding the ruling and calling for all states to end complicity in Israel's illegal actions. Bolivia and the EU have also issued statements condemning Israel's actions and calling for an end to the occupation.

The ICJ's ruling marks a significant shift in international opinion on the decades-long conflict, with the court's president stating that Israel's continued presence in occupied Palestinian territory is unlawful. The decision is expected to put pressure on Israel to withdraw from occupied territories and may lead to further international sanctions.
