UN Chief Condemns Israeli Airstrikes on Yemen, Urges Restraint

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed deep concern over the Israeli airstrikes on the Yemeni city of Hudaydah, which left several people killed and injured on Saturday night.

Iran (IMNA) - The UN chief called on all parties to exercise utmost restraint and avoid attacks that could harm civilians and damage civilian infrastructure.

The airstrikes, carried out by Israeli war jets, targeted an oil refinery and caused a massive fire that can be seen kilometers away. The attack resulted in multiple fatalities and over 80 people injured, according to initial reports.

Guterres' office released a statement urging all concerned parties to "avoid attacks that could harm civilians and damage civilian infrastructure." The UN Secretary-General also expressed concern about the risk of further escalation in the region and continues to urge all parties to exercise utmost restraint.

In response to the Israeli strikes, Yemen's Army spokesperson Yahya Saree warned that Yemeni armed forces would not hesitate to retaliate against the Israeli aggression. Saree also vowed that Yemen is prepared for a long war with Israel until it stops its onslaught on the Gaza Strip.

The incident marks the latest escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Yemen, with both sides exchanging fire in recent days. The UN Secretary-General's statement serves as a stark reminder of the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the region and the need for immediate action to prevent further bloodshed.
