Hamas Demands ICC Probe into Israeli Soldiers Confessions of Killing Palestinians out of Boredom

The Palestinian Hamas resistance group has urged the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate recent confessions by Israeli soldiers detailing their systematic killing of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, citing "boredom" as a motive.

Iran (IMNA) - In a statement issued on Wednesday, Hamas condemned the confessions published by Israeli outlets +972 Magazine and Local Call, in which former Israeli troops described targeting and executing unarmed civilians, including women and children, as a form of "amusement".

The resistance group called on the ICC to follow up on the confessions, which they say amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity. The confessions were made by six Israeli soldiers who fought in the Gaza Strip, who recounted executing civilians without restrictions, shooting at anyone who entered a designated "no-go zone", and leaving bodies to rot or be eaten by animals.

Hamas criticized the international community for failing to take punitive measures against Israel for its actions, which have resulted in the deaths of at least 38,295 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injuries to 88,241 others. The Lancet has estimated that the death toll could be as high as 186,000 due to indirect impacts of the war.

The Israeli military campaign in Gaza began on October 7 in response to Hamas' retaliation against Israel's intensified atrocities against Palestinians.
