Iran (IMNA) _ In a social media post, Bahadori Jahromi stated that "International law suffers from the weakness of enforcement guarantee; Some political comments double this suffering." He was referring to a letter sent by 12 US senators threatening the International Criminal Court and its judges for carrying out their legal duties.
The Iranian official further emphasized that the US and West selectively apply international law and do not hesitate to breach it for political reasons. He stressed that for international law to be effective, serious revisions are needed in terms of both structure and content.
Bahadori Jahromi also pointed to the ongoing Israeli military offensive in Gaza, which is backed by the US, as an example of how the arbitrary behavior of Western nations has hindered the maturation and enforcement of international law. He stated that the events in Gaza have exposed the practical ineffectiveness of the international legal system in preventing such tragedies worldwide, serving as a "clear historical document" on the human rights approach of certain Western countries.
