Iran (IMNA) - The top diplomat made the remarks during a meeting with the head of the Turkey-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group, Kayhan Turkmenoglu, and his accompanying delegation on Tuesday night.
Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has praised Turkey's decision to sever trade ties with the Israeli regime, calling it an "effective and valuable measure." The top diplomat made the remarks during a meeting with the head of the Turkey-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group, Kayhan Turkmenoglu, and his accompanying delegation on Tuesday night.
Amir-Abdollahian highlighted Turkey's significant contributions to the development of Islamic civilization and culture, as well as its ongoing support for the Palestinian people. He also emphasized the importance of Turkey's role in promoting stability in the West Asian region, given its strategic position in Iran's neighborhood policy.
The Iranian foreign minister commended the positive impact of the Turkey-Iran Parliamentary Friendship Group on strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations. He urged for further parliamentary diplomacy and continuous interactions between Iranian and Turkish lawmakers to foster closer ties.
Amir-Abdollahian also referred to the shared goal of the two countries' presidents to expand relations, particularly in the economic sector, in line with their common interests. This sentiment was echoed during the recent visit of the Iranian president to Turkey.
Regarding the Gaza crisis, Amir-Abdollahian praised the close cooperation between Iran and Turkey, emphasizing the importance of stopping the genocide in Gaza to reduce regional tensions. He also condemned the Israeli attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus, calling it a terrorist act.
Turkmenoglu, in turn, expressed gratitude for Iran's support for the Palestinian people and strongly condemned the Israeli attack on the Iranian embassy. He emphasized the need to stop the genocide in Gaza and the importance of removing obstacles to accelerate the implementation of joint agreements between Tehran and Ankara.
The meeting underscored the growing trend of bilateral economic and trade relations between the two countries, with Turkmenoglu emphasizing the Turkish Parliament's support for promoting relations between Iran and Turkey.
