Iran (IMNA) - The announcement came after a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, where they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries. The meeting took place on the sidelines of an emergency gathering of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Tuesday night.
Amir-Abdollahian mentioned that in light of the upcoming trial for the attacker of the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran in January 2023, both parties agreed to arrange for the visit of an Azerbaijani diplomatic team to Tehran. The Iranian foreign minister had previously emphasized the mutual commitment of Tehran and Baku to enhance their bilateral ties. Following investigations into the embassy attack, Iranian authorities concluded that the assailant acted out of personal and family-related motives.
