In a recent statement, the top Iranian diplomat emphasized Iran's extensive capacities and experience in various sectors, including industry, technical and engineering services, modern technologies, medicine, and pharmacology. The diplomat expressed Iran's willingness to share these resources with Sudan, aiming to assist the African nation in achieving development and progress.
Responding to the statement, the Sudanese foreign minister expressed regret over the severed relations between Tehran and Khartoum. He emphasized Sudan's determination to enhance ties with Iran across multiple fields of cooperation.
Moreover, the minister issued a warning regarding Israel's attempts to exacerbate the ongoing war and internal crisis in Sudan. He underlined that the Sudanese government and its people stand firmly in support of the Palestinian cause, condemning Israel's atrocities against the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip.
Iran and Sudan Reestablish Diplomatic Relations After Seven-Year Hiatus
In a significant development, Iran and Sudan have officially agreed to restore diplomatic relations after a seven-year disruption. The decision comes as a result of Iran's earlier reconciliation with Saudi Arabia, facilitated by China, in March 2023. This breakthrough agreement prompted both Tehran and Khartoum to reevaluate their bilateral ties and move towards reestablishing diplomatic channels. It is worth noting that Riyadh had severed its diplomatic missions in Tehran back in 2016, following the violent protests triggered by the execution of prominent Shia cleric Nimr Baqir al-Nimr.
