Iran Denies Links to Attacks on US Forces, Citing Conflict Between Resistance Groups, US Military

Iran's mission to the United Nations issued a statement late on Sunday, asserting that Tehran has no connections to recent attacks on US forces in the region. The mission clarified that these attacks are a result of the ongoing conflict between resistance groups and the US military.

Iran (IMNA) - The statement came in response to a drone attack on a US base located on the border of Jordan and Syria, which tragically claimed the lives of three American forces. Iran categorically denied any involvement in the attack, emphasizing that it was part of the "conflict between the army of the United States of America and resistance groups in the region, which reciprocate retaliatory attacks."

US President Joe Biden, on the other hand, attributed the attack to "Iranian-backed groups" primarily operating in Iraq. The assault resulted in the deaths of three American forces and left at least 34 others wounded.

US Military Personnel Killed in Attack Near Syrian Border, Biden Vows Revenge

In a significant escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, US military personnel were tragically killed for the first time since the Israeli onslaught on Gaza began on October 7. President Joe Biden confirmed in his statement that the attack occurred in northeast Jordan, near the Syrian border. However, Jordan has disputed this claim, asserting that the incident took place on Syrian territory rather than within its own borders.

President Biden expressed his determination to uncover the truth behind the attack, emphasizing that efforts are already underway to gather all relevant facts. He issued a stern warning to those responsible, promising retaliation: "Have no doubt – we will hold all those accountable for this heinous act, at a time and in a manner of our choosing."

US Central Command Reports Changing Number of Injuries in Drone Attack, Eight Personnel Evacuated for Higher-Level Care

According to a statement released by US Central Command, the number of individuals injured in the recent drone attack is expected to fluctuate as more people come forward for medical attention. Notably, eight personnel have been safely evacuated from Jordan to receive advanced medical care and are currently in stable condition.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an alliance of anti-terror fighters, has taken responsibility for launching attacks on three military bases, including one situated along the Jordan-Syria border.

Since the commencement of Israel's conflict with Palestinians in the Gaza Strip on October 7, there have been approximately 160 assaults targeting US forces in Iraq and Syria. The majority of these attacks have been claimed by regional resistance factions.

It is worth mentioning that Iran has consistently asserted that these resistance groups operate independently in response to what they perceive as Israeli atrocities in Gaza.
