Iran's Foreign Minister to Strengthen Ties with Egypt, Raising Concerns in Israel

Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian, is scheduled to visit Egypt in the near future, according to reports from Arab and Israeli media. The visit is anticipated to enhance the relationship between Iran and Egypt, which has raised concerns within the Israeli regime. As reported by IRNA on Monday, the upcoming visit holds significant importance amidst the current sensitive regional dynamics.

Iran (IMNA) _Tel Aviv-based daily, Yedioth Ahronoth, has expressed concerns over the recent visit and negotiations between Iranian and Egyptian officials, as well as leaders of Yemen's Ansarullah Movement. In a published report, the newspaper warns about the increasing closeness between Iran and Egypt following the Gaza war.

According to Yedioth Ahronoth, tensions escalating in the Red Sea have prompted intense negotiations between these parties. The report suggests that the ongoing developments in the region, coupled with common interests, are expected to further strengthen ties between Tehran and Cairo. As Iran remains a key regional player, the Israeli daily believes that these factors contribute to the deepening relations between Iran and Egypt.

"Iran and Egypt Restore Diplomatic Relations After Decades of Tension"

In 1980, Iran and Egypt severed diplomatic relations due to Egypt's recognition of Israel a year earlier. However, in a significant development last year, both countries decided to resume their ties. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman expressed optimism about the talks on December 25. This decision came after a meeting between the Supreme Leader of Iran's Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and the Omani Sultan in June 2023. During the meeting, the Omani Sultan conveyed Egypt's willingness to restore relations with Tehran, which was warmly welcomed by Iran. This marks a significant step towards rebuilding diplomatic bridges between the two nations.
