Iran (IMNA) - According to a judicial official, 32 individuals have been arrested in connection with the Kerman terrorist crime case. These individuals are currently undergoing preliminary interrogations. Additionally, it has been reported that 16 bombs, with explosive power surpassing that of the suicide vests used in the Wednesday attack, have been discovered throughout Kerman province. The terrorist bombings occurred near the burial site of Iran's late anti-terror commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani during a ceremony commemorating the fourth anniversary of his martyrdom. The attacks were claimed by the US-backed Daesh Takfiri group and resulted in the death of 89 people, including 76 Iranians and 13 Afghans. Furthermore, 286 individuals were wounded, some of whom are in critical condition.
Suicide Bombers Responsible for Attack, No Explosives Planted in Cemetery, Says Prosecutor
In response to recent rumors, Prosecutor Bakhshi has confirmed that the explosives used in the attack were not placed in trash cans and remotely detonated. Instead, he revealed that both bomb blasts were carried out by suicide bombers, with one of them hailing from Tajikistan.
Prosecutor Bakhshi further emphasized that the terrorists were unable to plant any explosives within the cemetery where martyrs are buried. He stated, "In the past few months, we have successfully apprehended 23 Daesh terrorists who were planning suicide attacks across Kerman province."
Province Mobilizes Security Forces to Counter Threats on General Soleimani's Martyrdom Anniversary
In light of potential terror attacks by Daesh and the anti-Iranian Mujahedin-e-Khalq terrorist cult, the prosecutor has emphasized that the province faced a high number of threats during this year's martyrdom anniversary of General Soleimani. To ensure the safety and security of the province, a comprehensive mobilization effort was undertaken. The Intelligence Ministry, Islamic Revolution Guards Corps' Intelligence Organization, and the Army were all involved in monitoring small air vehicles within a several-kilometer radius. Additionally, special sniffer dogs were deployed to detect any explosives.
