Iran (IMNA) - The meeting between Albusaidi and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian commenced with warm greetings from the host country. The two ministers extensively deliberated on various matters of shared interest, emphasizing the importance of enhancing cooperation between their nations.
A key focus of their discussions was the dire humanitarian situation in the besieged Gaza Strip. Both ministers underscored the urgency of establishing a permanent ceasefire and facilitating the delivery of essential aid to the war-stricken population.
Iran has been actively urging all Muslim countries to intensify their efforts in putting an end to Israel's atrocities. Notably, Qatar played a significant role as a mediator in negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, resulting in the ceasefire that commenced on November 24. This temporary halt in hostilities allowed crucial humanitarian assistance to reach the people of Gaza while facilitating the exchange of captives and prisoners between Hamas and Israel.
Since the resumption of Israeli attacks on Gaza in early December, the death toll has surpassed 600. Before the Qatar-mediated truce, the assaults had claimed the lives of nearly 15,000 individuals, with a substantial number being women and children.
The escalation of aggression began on October 7 when Hamas launched an unprecedented military operation near Gaza, targeting the Israeli-occupied territories of Palestine.
