Iran (IMNA) -Amir-Abdollahian made these remarks during his visit to New York City to attend an emergency UN General Assembly meeting on Palestine. The Israeli regime's continuous bombardment of the densely populated Gaza Strip has only exacerbated the suffering of its impoverished community, which has already endured 17 years of Israeli blockade.
The number of fatalities in Gaza since the launch of Israel's aerial campaign on October 7 has now surpassed 7,000. To worsen the situation, the regime has imposed a total blockade, depriving millions of people in the region of essential resources such as food, fuel, water, and electricity.
This wave of raids was triggered by the Hamas-led resistance forces' unprecedented military operation, known as the Al-Aqsa Storm, against occupied territories. Palestinians have justified this attack, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,400 Israeli forces and settlers, as a response to the escalating Israeli violence against Palestinians and the desecration of the al-Aqsa Mosque by the occupiers.
Amir-Abdollahian has expressed concerns about the ongoing violence in the region, particularly regarding the actions of Israel in the strip. He emphasized that the region cannot remain silent while women and children are being massacred. The situation is complex, making it difficult for the region to tolerate the high civilian death toll of 7,000 as a result of Israeli bombardments. These atrocities have created a volatile situation, turning the entire region into a potential powder keg.
The minister further revealed that his recent discussions with Palestinian and Lebanese resistance leaders indicate their readiness to take action against the Israeli regime and its allies. He stated that these leaders "have their finger on the trigger" and are prepared to make independent decisions in response to the ongoing crisis.
