Iran (IMNA) - Amir-Abdollahian's arrival at John F. Kennedy Airport on Wednesday evening was met with a warm welcome from Iran's ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani. This visit is part of the Islamic Republic of Iran's efforts to engage in regional and international discussions on the matter.
Since the commencement of the Al-Aqsa Storm operation by Hamas on October 7th, the Israeli army has been carrying out continuous airstrikes targeting residential areas, hospitals, religious centers, and schools in the Gaza Strip, as well as the West Bank and southern Lebanon. Despite these bombardments, the Palestinian Resistance fighters have proven resilient, and the Israeli army has struggled to effectively confront them.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza has reported an alarming increase in the death toll, with the number of casualties reaching 7,165 people due to the Israeli war on the enclave. Additionally, the ministry has stated that the number of wounded individuals stands at 17,439.
Speaking to reporters in New York, Amir-Abdollahian expressed concern over the potential spillover of the conflict from Gaza to other regions in the area. He highlighted the efforts made by Iran's permanent mission in New York to prevent the approval of a unilateral resolution on Gaza proposed by the United States. These efforts included securing vetoes from China and Russia, demonstrating Iran's commitment to finding a diplomatic solution to the crisis.
