Iran (IMNA) - According to information released on Friday by the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Executive Committee of the intergovernmental organization will meet next week "under invitation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the President of the [OIC's] Islamic Summit" to talk about the sacrilege.
Two men stood outside the Stockholm Central Mosque on Wednesday throughout the event and, with permission from a Swedish court, burnt a copy of the Muslim holy book in a repeated and state-approved act of sacrilege against the holy book.
The decision was made to coincide with Eid al-Adha, a Muslim holiday that commemorates the end of the annual Hajj trip, which is taken part in by millions of Muslims worldwide.
The conference will be place in the OIC's headquarters in Jeddah, a port city in Saudi Arabia, and will focus on the ramifications of Sweden's burning of a copy of the Holy Qur'an on the first day of Eid Al-Adha, according to the SPA.
The article said, "The meeting next week is scheduled to discuss the countermeasures to the heinous act and to adopt a collective stance on the necessary course of action."
In a phone call with OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha, Iran's top diplomat Hossein Amir-Abdollahian proposed that the OIC's foreign ministers convene an emergency meeting as soon as possible to discuss the desecration.
