Developing ties with African nations priority for Iran, according to  foreign minister

African countries' development, according to Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, has a special position in Iran's foreign policy.

Iran (IMNA) - The senior diplomat made the comments during a meeting with visiting Burkina Faso Foreign Ministry Secretary General Issa Boro on Sunday in Tehran.

According to the Iranian foreign minister, the Islamic Republic of Iran has prioritized strengthening ties with African nations in its foreign policy agenda.

Amir-Abdollahian was in favor of deepening bilateral ties between the two nations.

He continued by saying that the upcoming joint commission conference between the two nations would be a great chance to further develop bilateral ties in the areas of business, research, and education.

According to the African official, visiting Tehran was mostly done to explore various topics that would be of interest to both countries, particularly in terms of their economic ties.

Boro emphasized that his country is committed to sending an ambassador and reopening its embassy in Tehran.

In light of both nations' commitment to strengthening their connections and taking into account Iran's engineering capabilities and significant advancements, he continued, the necessary conditions are now in place for the bilateral relationship to deepen and expand in all sectors.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister for political affairs, Ali Bagheri Kani, emphasized to the Burkinabe official during their earlier meeting on Sunday that Tehran wanted to strengthen ties with Ouagadougou.
