Iran (IMNA) - According to reports, Alireza Enayati has been nominated as Iran's envoy to Riyadh.
He formerly worked as Iran's ambassador to Kuwait, the foreign minister's assistant, and the Foreign Ministry's director-general of Persian Gulf affairs.
After many days of intense discussions in Beijing, Iran and Saudi Arabia agreed on March 10 to reestablish diplomatic relations and reopen their embassies within two months.
Following the signing of the deal, Tehran and Riyadh issued a joint statement emphasizing the need of respecting each other's national sovereignty and refraining from intervening in one another's internal affairs.
They also agreed to put into effect a security cooperation agreement signed in April 2001, as well as a May 1998 agreement to increase economic, commercial, investment, technological, scientific, cultural, sports, and youth affairs collaboration.
On April 6, Saudi and Iranian foreign ministers met for the first time in seven years, emphasizing the need of putting the reconciliation agreement into action.
