Iran (IMNA) - According to the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association, there has been a significant increase in the smuggling of Iranian petroleum into Pakistan in recent months.
The report said that fuel smuggled from Iran is currently being used in many areas in Pakistan unlike in the past when smuggling was limited to the Pakistani border province of Balochistan.
In contrast to the past, when gasoline smuggling was restricted to the Pakistani border state of Balochistan, the research said that petroleum imported from Iran is now utilized in numerous locations throughout Pakistan.
It also quoted data from Pakistan's energy ministry, which showed that diesel sales in the nation had dropped by more than 40% as a result of the increasing presence of illicit products on the market.
The news comes on the heels of claims by Iranian Oil Ministry officials claiming that petroleum smuggling from the country has reached record levels, owing to a huge differential in fuel costs between Iran and neighboring states.
