Iran (IMNA) - Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian voiced pleasure with the favorable trajectory in bilateral ties and reaffirmed Tehran's commitment to further its neighborliness policy during a phone conversation with his Saudi opposite number Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on Sunday.
The Saudi foreign minister, for his part, praised the present excellent trajectory of bilateral ties and emphasized the need of frequent meetings and engagement between officials from the two countries.
Following seven years of estrangement, Iran and Saudi Arabia reached an agreement on March 10 to re-establish diplomatic ties and re-open embassies and posts within two months, sponsored by China.
According to a joint statement, Iran and Saudi Arabia emphasized the need of respecting each other's national sovereignty and refraining from intervening in one another's internal affairs.
Iran, Saudi Arabia, and China have also stated their solid commitment to promoting regional and international peace and security.
On March 23, the Iranian and Saudi foreign ministries spoke on the phone on the ongoing normalization of ties between the two countries, which began with the Chinese-brokered agreement.
