Iran (IMNA) - On Monday, the Supreme leader made the statements during a meeting with visiting Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
Describing the present mutual grounds between Iran and Belarus, the Leader stated that the imposition of coercive sanctions on Tehran and Minsk by the US and other Western powers is one of those common reasons.
The Leader declared, "Those nations that the United States has sanctioned must dismantle the weapon of sanctions by cooperating with one another and forging a common group, and we believe this is feasible to do.
Ayatollah Khamenei added, "Severe sanctions made Iran discover its own intrinsic capabilities and strengths," referring to the American sanctions imposed against Iran since the Islamic Revolution's victory and the harshest sanctions imposed over the previous 12 years.
"Many grounds for success were granted to Iran during the sanctions period, and our country succeeded in making eye-catching advancements in different disciplines, including science and technology, medicine and biology, aerospace, [as well as] nuclear [science] and nano[technology]," the Leader stated.
The Leader emphasized, "If those countries sanctioned by America exploit each other's capacities, it will be very beneficial for all of them."
Iran and Belarus can collaborate in many sectors, including science and technology, trade, and political actions in international organizations, according to the Leader.
The Leader also emphasized that agreements and promises made by countries must not be restricted to meetings, but must be implemented through particular follow-up and a schedule.
The Belarussian president, for his part, stated that his travel to Iran was intended to start a new chapter in the two countries' relations, promising to follow through on all agreements reached between the two countries with the cooperation and intention of his Iranian counterpart.
He stated that his journey to Iran was also intended to familiarize himself with Iran's achievements in several domains.
"We have come to know our true and fake friends under the current difficult international conditions, and we are resolved to engage in special collaboration with our true friends," Lukashenko concluded.
