Iran (IMNA) - Raeisi stated in a meeting with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi in Tehran on Saturday that Iran has had the highest degree of cooperation with the agency, showing gesture of goodwill.
The president raised hopes that the IAEA will function on professional and fair behavior, as well as the principle of fairness, to announce facts regarding Iran's peaceful nuclear activities and the country's regulatory compliance, referring to Grossi's talks with Iranian officials in Tehran.
The Iranian president noted that the United States was the first to violate the 2015 nuclear agreement, technically known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), by withdrawing unilaterally from the agreement.
He claimed that the three European signatories to the JCPOA, Britain, France, and Germany, had likewise failed to fulfill their obligations under the accord, despite Iran's adherence to its pledges, as confirmed by IAEA reports more than 15 times.
The UN nuclear watchdog chief stated that he had extremely constructive and good conversations with Iranian officials in Tehran, laying the groundwork for future dialogue and expanded bilateral collaboration between the two countries.
Grossi believes that using nuclear energy to increase human welfare is unavoidable.
He stated that those who wish misfortune to Iran are not interested in successful cooperation with the IAEA.
He believes that expanding bilateral cooperation is the best way to respond to them.
The IAEA Director stated that Iranian officials are committed to reviving the JCPOA in order to address people's demands, expressing optimism that the agreement can be restored if the parties demonstrate political will.
