"Three actions that have been taken by the Municipality of Isfahan as a child-friendly city have been published in the CFCI Inspire Awards Booklet (2021) by UNICEF," Vahid Mahdavian said.
"The event of Child Friendly Cities and Local Governments Inspire Awards was organized by UNICEF for the second time to celebrate the innovative and inspiring solutions or projects that foster child rights and improve the daily lives of children and young people in the cities and communities where they live. The Municipality of Isfahan with its second prominent presence in this competitions managed to publish three valuable actions in CFCI Inspire Awards Booklet," he noted.
The Chairman of the Executive Council of the Child-Friendly City went on to say that, "The International Competition of the Child Friendly Cities and Local Governments Inspire Awards was organized in six distinct categories including non-discrimination and equity, meaningful child participation, child friendly social services, secure, safe and clean environments, f amily life, play and leisure, and child friendly governance. Isfahan succeeded to realize the meaningful child participation goal by creating a consultative council and estabilishing a social support group for working children. The city also ensuried the objectives of "Family life, play and leisure" category by providing creative playgrounds."
Stressing that the plan to achieve a child-friendly city has been implemented as part of a joint effort and cooperation between UNICEF and the Ministry of Interior, Movahedian said, "Efforts have been made to protect the rights of children .Although the purpose of publishing the CFCI Inspire Awards Booklet is not to introduce the best examples, the Municipality of Isfahan has proved its detremination to make the city more livable and safer for children by participating in these competitions.
He emphasized, "The goal of the International Child Friendly Cities Secretariat is that the motto of child-friendly city does not remain a slogan and the capacities and opinions of all children and adolescents can be used to make urban settings child-responsive ."
