First symposium on utopian child friendly city underway in Isfahan

Iran (IMNA) - Referring to the first symposium on the utopian child friendly city in Iran, Farideh Roshan, said, "Isfahan as a child-friendly city has been a member of the Supreme Court for Policy - Making of this symposium at the suggestion of the University of Science and Technology, and today (Wednesday) it is set to share the child friendly actions and initiatives that has been taken so far in Isfahan. "

Roshan continued, "Apart from this event, educational workshops are also scheduled, and today, three specialized think tank on children's utopian city will be held. Also, an exhibition of children's paintings with the theme of the "Experience the city from a child's perspective" will be run in Tehran."

She added, "This symposium has been arranged with the approach of increasing scientific and technical coordination between stakeholders and decision makers, reviewing scientific and academic researchs, capacity development for projects in partnership with the private sector and examining the spaces required for children in cities."

Roshan pointed out that policies for child-friendly cities should address children's rights as well as their educational, emotional, spiritual and psychological needs in various dimensions.

The general objective of the program is to enhance the knowledge of local and national policy making bodies on child rights to build their capacity to increase child-friendly budgets and set up plans to monitor progress for children at national level. The symposium offers a framework for elaborating and executing policies responsive to the needs of children.
