Isfahan pedestrianization moves forward

Seyed Ahmad Hosseini-nia pointed out, "during this period of urban management, 15 kilometers of urban spaces -equivalent to 123,400 square meters- have been turned into pedestrian zones including Chaharbagh Abbasi paved walk for pedestrians, Hovhannes sidewalk, and also Beit AlHossain walkway."

Iran (IMNA) - "Due to the current outbreak of Coronavirus ( COVID -19) disease, the deputy office for urban planning has upgraded the digital urban planning systems in keeping with the slogan "Stay at Home", so that people can take advantage of the services without any physical attendance but via mobile phone or computer," Seyed Ahmad Hosseini-nia said.

Referring to the differences between modern and traditional urban planning, he added, "By examining the country's recent 50-year plan, we realize that the urban population has increased from 30% to 60% and the number of cities has reached 900."

The Deputy Mayor of Isfahan for Urban Planning and Architecture continued, "According to the projections, plans and analyzes defined in the horizon of 1400, the urban population will reach about 70% and the number of cities will become 1,900."

Noting that 50% out of 70% of the urban population of the country, will live in metropolises, including Isfahan, he specified, "Economic, social, political, transportation, traffic or environmental issues in metropolitan areas must receive special attention."

Hosseini-nia emphasized, "Apart from planning, it has commonly been assumed that there should be a qualitative approach that inevitably addresses the urban aesthetic values and sustainability."
