Iran (IMNA) - Iran has registered more than 1,706,559 cases of the virus since the pandemic began, while the official death toll has risen to 60,867 according to ministry data.
8,554 new coronavirus infections have been identified over the past 24 hours, some 797 of whom have been hospitalized, Sadat Lari said.
During the past weeks, government data shows an upward trend in infections and deaths as hospital admissions are growing in Iran’s Coronavirus orange zones.
To combat the outbreak, Iranian government has recommended preventive measures such as observing social distancing, wearing facemasks and reducing mass-crowding.
According to Worldometers, total cases of COVID-19 worldwide have surpassed 117 million and the global deaths from the virus have also surged at 2,613,822; however, more than 93 million people have recovered.
