The deputy mayor of Isfahan for urban services said, "Currently, 671 MWh of solar energy is harnessed annually by the municipality, which due to the development of solar power plants, will increase to 2,000 MWh by the end of the year."
"Solar energy is a renewable free source of energy that is sustainable, and provides more than enough energy to meet the whole world's energy needs; from the beginning of the installation of solar power plants in 2014 until the end of October this year, about one million and 600 thousand kilowatt-hour electricity has been generated," Hossein Amiri noted.
He added, "Isfahan Municipality, as a leading city in harvesting solar energy, has been able to provide more than 50% of the 20% of its energy consumption through the construction of photovoltaic power plants."
"So far, 27 solar power plants have been built by the Municipality of Isfahan, all of which are generating the maximum electric under its nameplate capacity of photovoltaic," The deputy mayor of Isfahan for urban services said.
Referring to the amount of solar energy produced by the municipality, Hossein Amiri continued, "Currently, 671 MWh of solar energy is harnessed annually by the municipality, which due to the development of solar power plants, will increase to 2,000 MWh by the end of the year."
Amiri said, "Having regard to the need of developing renewable sources, we must fully seek to use clean energy in order to prevent environmental pollution and reduce the use of fossil fuels."
