Iran (IMNA) - Earlier, the mayors of 18 Iranian metropolises offered their commiserations to the mayor of Beirut Jamal Itani over Tuesday's massive explosion, and voiced their full readiness to provide support and aid for Lebanon with every means available.
The tragic explosion in the metropolis of Beirut took many lives, injured a significant number of Lebanese people and caused widespread damage.
The municipalities of Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz, Bandar Abbas, Rasht, Urmia, Tabriz, Ardabil, Qom, Karaj, Zahedan, Kermanshah, Ahvaz, Kerman, Yazd, Hamedan, Mashhad and Arak announced their promptitude in this regard.
The blast, which killed more than 150 people, injured thousands more and destroyed entire neighborhoods, occurred at a warehouse in Beirut's port, where nearly 3,000 tons of explosive materials ammonium nitrate, were being stored without safety measures for years.
Up to 300,000 people have been displaced from their homes and a trail of damage at billions of dollars left. Authorities are still working on providing people with shelter, food and water.
As part of the ongoing aid efforts to help Lebanon, all countries particularly Arab nations are striving to provide humanitarian aid to blast-hit Lebanon, delivering tons of foods, nutritional supplements for children and medical supplies to aid those affected by the explosion rocked Beirut.
