Yazd to become child-friendly

Saying that the enactment on child-friendly city has been approved by the Islamic City Council of Yazd, the mayor of the city said, "We will strive to make Yazd, the city of children."

Iran (IMNA) - "In a child-friendly city, all the standards of accessibility for children should be met; it is set in the municipal organizational chart to provide a specific office for such a project, Yazd also is no exception." Jamaledin Azizi said.

"As children make the future of cities, they should also be given special attention in urban areas; child friendly cities should be physically a good place for children to commute as well as being accessible regarding the urban amenities. Urban programs should be aimed at enhancing children's learning," the mayor of Yazd emphasized.

"Yazd has good cultural features that must be passed on to children through education and storytelling so that they can transmit Yazd's cultural heritage to the city," he emphasized.

"In order to be able to execute this project in Yazd, we are monitoring the realization of standards," he continued.

"The needed requirements will definitely include games and entertainment for children. In addition to the current playground equipment in the park, new intellectual and motor skills equipment will be installed in the park," He added.

A child-friendly city (CFC) is a city, town, community or any system of local governance committed to improving the lives of children within their jurisdiction by realizing their rights as articulated in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
