Iran (IMNA) - "This agreement will be notifiedset out after the the approvalratification process in both countries and being after ratificationapproved by Iran's the Islamic Consultative Assembly," Mohammad Ali Asl Saeedipour said regarding the Iran-Oman Maritime Shipping Agreement.
Development of maritime cooperation between the two countries, promotion of the joint actions between shipping companies in the field of cargo transportation between Iran and Oman and third countries, facilitating the requirements for entry and exit of cargo and passenger ships in joint ports and that of third parties, as well as enhancing partnership agreement on technical aspects of marine rescue operations, marine environment protection, maritime-related training, maritime security, and exchanging information and experiences are the main objects of the agreement.
"Oman is one of the countries that has always been Iran's right defender and has acted as a mediator. The country has a long-standing cultural affinity with Iran; so, enhancing trade relations between the two countries is one of the goals that should be realized," Saeedipour added.
"There is a significant cultural relationship between Iran and Oman; some Muscat residents are from the provinces of Sistan and Baluchistan and Hormozgan. Setting a passenger shipping line on a regular basis between Iran and Oman depends on the passenger transport demands and certainly the cost-effectiveness of this travel mode than air travel will make more people willing to travel by sea," Saeedipour noted.
