Iran (IMNA) - "The Ancient Museum of Iran and Italy have experienced a long-lasting collaboration of 60 years with each other, and since the 1980s, Italy has been conducting a content plan to retrofit the Ancient Iranian Museum, which has been published in two volumes," Jebreal Nokandeh said.
"Japan and Italy are among the countries that will cooperate with Iran in the reconstruction and retrofitting project of the Museum," he said
The brick building of the Museum of Ancient Iran was designed by French architects André Godard and Maxime Siroux in the early 20th century, and was influenced by Sassanian vaults, particularly the Taq Kasra at Ctesiphon. Its construction, with an area of about 11,000 square meters (13,000 sq yd), began in 1935 and was completed within two years by Abbas Ali Memar and Morad Tabrizi. It was then officially inaugurated in 1937.
"National Museum of Iran holds close cooperation with several countries across the world and has held museum exhibitions with different countries," Nokandeh said.
The National Museum of Iran is the oldest and largest museum in the country. It contains two complexes; the Museum of Ancient Iran and the Museum of the Islamic Era, which were opened in 1937 and 1972, respectively.
