Isfahan (IMNA) - Tabriz is the “World Carpet City”, Laljin is the “World Pottery City”, Mashhad is the “World gemstones and semi-precious stone City”, Sirjan is the“ World Kilim Rugs City”, Marivan is the “World Kalash Kurdish shoes City”, Kalporgan village in Sistan and Baluchestan province is the “World Pottery Village”, and Isfahan is the “World Handicrafts City”. The 10th of June is the World Handicrafts Day which is coincided with the foundation of “World Handicrafts Council”.
Isfahan is the first Iranian city which is registered in UNESCO world heritage list in the field of handicrafts. But not only in one field, but also the name of Isfahan has become global as the world handicrafts city. The city has one third of 656 fields of common handicrafts in the world. In other words, there are 360 different fields of handicrafts in Iran that 196 fields of them are only common in Isfahan province. Therefore, after the city of Jaipur in India, Isfahan has become famous as the second world handicrafts city. It is worth to mention that, Isfahan win global renown as a creative city in the field of handicrafts.
