Cultural heritage causes Isfahan subway backwardness

The Chief Advisor of Transportation Industry Development discussed the metro backwardness in Isfahan as a result of cultural heritage considerations.

IMNA booth at the 23rd Press Exhibition hosted Mohammad Satei yesterday and quoted him: cities should be railway-oriented to encourage people to use rail transportation.

Cities are expected to step towards Green Transportation, he voiced hopefully.

About preservation of cultural heritage as a reason for metro backwardness, Satei announced that the first metro line would reach full exploitation by the next year.

He noted: using metro will cut Isfahan air pollution by 35%, while cars are accountable for 70% of the total city air pollution.

He mentioned some other challenges as hurdles in the way of subway construction in Isfahan and other metropolises, naming: simultaneous start of metro construction in several metropolises, lack of macro policy in providing the county’s infrastructures, multiplicity, lack of standardization, sanctions, and cultural heritage concerns.
