Iran (IMNA) — Commenting on reports of Iran-US negotiations in New York, Baghaei said the interaction with the American side took place through a Qatari intermediary.
He said the purpose of the contact was to convey Iran’s conditions, including an end to the war on all fronts, a halt to US aggressive actions, an end to the naval blockade and economic war, the release of Iranian assets, and other demands.
No further details were immediately released.
Pezeshkian Arrives in New York to Attend 81st UN General Assembly
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in New York on Wednesday to attend and address the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly and present Iran’s positions.
Pezeshkian was welcomed at John F. Kennedy International Airport by Gholamhossein Darzi, Iran’s ambassador and chargé d’affaires at the United Nations, along with a group of Iranian diplomats.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry delegation, headed by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, arrived in New York on Monday evening, ahead of the presidential delegation. Since Tuesday morning, the foreign minister has been holding bilateral meetings with his counterparts and other international officials.
During his visit, Pezeshkian will attend the 81st session of the UN General Assembly and present the Islamic Republic of Iran’s positions. He will also hold meetings with several heads of state attending the UNGA session.
Pezeshkian is additionally scheduled to hold separate meetings with Iranians residing in the United States, as well as American elites and think tanks.
