Media Literacy Campaign ‘Wait a Moment’ to Be Held at Isfahan Intersections

The “Wait a Moment” media campaign will be held at selected busy intersections across Isfahan from September 19 to 25, aiming to promote media literacy, encourage responsible smartphone use, and prevent the spread of false information.

Iran (IMNA) –The campaign, organized in cooperation with the Isfahan Municipality’s Citizen Culture Development Department and the Media Cultural Center, seeks to strengthen citizens’ media literacy and promote a culture of pausing and verifying information before sharing messages and news online.

Running daily from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., the campaign will feature educational and artistic programs at selected high-traffic intersections throughout the city. The activities will highlight responsible smartphone use and encourage citizens to adopt a more critical approach when encountering messages and news on social media and other digital platforms.

The “Wait a Moment” campaign has been developed as part of civil defense initiatives, with one of its main objectives being to enhance citizens’ ability to identify and respond to false and harmful messages and prevent the inadvertent circulation of misinformation.

At the heart of the campaign is the message of “pausing before sharing,” encouraging people to check the accuracy and authenticity of content before forwarding or reposting it.

A distinctive feature of the initiative is its use of performing arts to communicate media-literacy concepts. Artists will stage live performances at busy intersections in Isfahan, recreating everyday situations involving the sharing of messages and news.

The performances are intended to capture the public’s attention and encourage greater awareness of the consequences of sharing content without verification. Through these real-life scenarios, the campaign seeks to convey the importance of calm, reflection and fact-checking when dealing with information in the digital environment.

Organizers have invited citizens, particularly younger people, to attend the performances, engage with the theatrical narratives and contribute to promoting responsible media use and a healthier information environment across the city.

I kept the tone suitable for an Iranian news agency’s English service and used natural international-news phrasing rather than a literal translation.
