Israeli Forces Raiding Gaza's al-Shifa Hospital, Firing Inside Complex: Iranian Foreign Ministry Condemns Attack

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Nasser Kan'ani, has strongly condemned Israel's brutal attack on the al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City and the regime's crimes against medical staff and patients. In a statement on Monday, Kan'ani criticized the Israeli regime for repeatedly violating international rules and human principles.

IraHeavily armed Israeli forces stormed the al-Shifa hospital early on Monday, using tanks and drones to fire at people inside the complex. Gaza's Health Ministry reported that around 30,000 people, including displaced civilians, wounded patients, and medical staff, are trapped inside the hospital.

Kan'ani highlighted that Israel's power structure has been based on occupation, terror, violence, and crimes for the past seven decades, leading to genocide in the Gaza Strip over the past six months. He criticized the international community's silence on Israel's massacres in Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in 1982 and Qana village in 1996.

Backed by certain Western countries, the Israeli regime has escalated its acts of violence and crimes against the Palestinian people, according to the Iranian spokesperson. He emphasized that a "painful tragedy" unfolds in Gaza as Israel targets hospitals and patients despite international rules protecting hospitals during wars.

Kan'ani called on the United Nations and its Security Council to fulfill their international duties and stop Israel's war crimes. Since October 7, 2023, at least 31,726 Palestinians, including many women and children, have been killed, and 73,729 injured in Israel's ongoing war. Additionally, Israel has enforced a comprehensive blockade on Gaza, denying essential supplies like fuel, electricity, food, and water to the population of over two million Palestinians.
