Iran Urges Emergency OIC Meeting as Gaza's Rafah Faces Imminent Israeli Invasion

In response to the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, particularly in the city of Rafah, Iran has called for an emergency meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Iran (IMNA) - Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian emphasized the need for decisive action from Muslim countries against the recent aggression by the Zionist regime during a phone conversation with OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha on Thursday.

The Israeli military is reportedly preparing for a ground invasion of Rafah, where over a million Palestinians have sought refuge since the beginning of the conflict. The potential invasion has raised concerns of a possible "slaughter," as warned by a senior UN official.

In a news statement today, Iranian Foreign Minister, Amir-Abodollahian, expressed deep regret and condemned the recent Israeli aggression against Rafah. The minister highlighted the tragic consequences of the attacks, resulting in the martyrdom of numerous innocent Palestinian women and children.

Amir-Abodollahian emphasized the crucial role of the international community, particularly the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, in addressing this urgent situation. He called for immediate action to halt these ongoing attacks.

The minister also drew attention to the dire humanitarian conditions in northern Gaza, where residents face severe shortages of basic necessities. He underscored the urgency of facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid, including essential items such as food, medicine, and pharmaceuticals.
