Iranian  FM Amir-Abdollahian Accuses US of Hindering UN's Efforts to Address Gaza Genocide

Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian strongly criticized the United States on Wednesday for obstructing the United Nations' crucial role in urging an end to the Israeli regime's ongoing genocidal war against the Gaza Strip.

Iran (IMNA) - Speaking at a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting focused on the Middle East situation, particularly Gaza, the esteemed diplomat expressed his concerns. The Israeli regime initiated the conflict on October 7, 2023, following Gaza's resistance movements' Operation al-Aqsa Storm. Tragically, the relentless assault has claimed the lives of approximately 25,500 Palestinians, predominantly women and children.

United States Accused of Unilateral Support for Israeli Offensive in Gaza

In a scathing statement, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, Amir-Abdollahian, accused the United States of providing unwavering military and political backing to Israel's relentless assault on Gaza. According to reports, over 10,000 tons of military equipment have been supplied by Washington to Tel Aviv. Furthermore, the US has obstructed any chance of halting the Israeli aggression by blocking the ratification of Security Council resolutions calling for a permanent ceasefire.

Amir-Abdollahian condemned the US for its role as the "practical supporter and main accomplice" of the Israeli regime's crimes. He criticized Washington for preventing the United Nations Security Council from effectively fulfilling its responsibilities in putting an end to the overt genocide in Gaza and establishing a much-needed ceasefire.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister, Amir-Abdollahian, emphasized the urgent need to halt the killing of innocent civilians, particularly women and children. In a statement, he firmly stated that war is not the solution and that resorting to force and committing acts of genocide in Gaza cannot bring about security. He called upon the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to fulfill its responsibility by passing a resolution demanding an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza, as well as the unimpeded delivery of vital humanitarian aid to the region.

Foreign Minister Urges UNSC to Take Action for Ceasefire and Aid in Gaza

Amir-Abdollahian, the Foreign Minister, has called on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to fulfill its duty by passing a resolution demanding an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. Additionally, he emphasized the need for unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to the region.

The proposed resolution also seeks to urge the Israeli regime to promptly and completely withdraw from the coastal sliver. Furthermore, it aims to secure a commitment from the regime to refrain from any attempts to relocate Palestinians to Egypt and Jordan.

During his address, the Foreign Minister highlighted one of the alleged objectives of the Israeli regime's ongoing war - the complete annihilation of Hamas, the Palestinian resistance movement governing Gaza.
