Iran's Interior Minister, Ahmad Vahidi, issued a caution to certain neighboring countries on Thursday, urging them to refrain from making unrealistic remarks about the three Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf.

Iran (IMNA) - Vahidi's statement came during his visit to Bumusa Island in southern Iran. The islands, namely Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb, have long been historically recognized as belonging to Iran. However, tensions have arisen due to the UAE's claims of ownership, which Tehran has continuously rejected, emphasizing historical evidence. Vahidi emphasized the importance of preserving strong ties with the Islamic Republic by avoiding actions that could tarnish relations.

The issue of the conflict between Iran and the UAE over the islands has once again gained attention after a statement was released by the 6th Arab-Russian Cooperation Forum in Morocco on December 21st. The forum expressed its support for peaceful solutions to resolve the dispute.

In response to the forum's statement, the Iranian interior minister dismissed the claims made about the three Iranian islands as "unfounded, unrealistic, and false". The minister emphasized that similar remarks had been previously made with the intention of disrupting relations between countries.

Furthermore, the minister urged Iran's neighboring countries not to repeat such baseless allegations, highlighting the need for maintaining positive and cooperative ties among nations.

Iran Summons Russian Diplomat Over Support for Claims on Persian Gulf Islands

In response to the recent Russian-Arab statement in Morocco, Iran's Foreign Ministry has summoned the Russian charge d'affaires. The summons comes as a protest against Moscow's repeated support for claims on Iran's trio of Persian Gulf islands. This is not the first time Russia has drawn Iran's anger. In July, the country supported a joint statement with the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council, further exacerbating tensions. Iran previously summoned the Russian ambassador to express its discontent with Moscow's actions. It is crucial for neighboring countries to tread carefully so as not to jeopardize their relations with Iran, a significant nation.
