Iranian Foreign Minister Denies Involvement in Recent Attacks on US Bases by Resistance Groups in Iraq, Syria

Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, has stated that Iran played no role in the recent attacks carried out by resistance groups on US-run bases in Iraq and Syria.

Iran (IMNA) - In an interview with CBS News published on Wednesday, Amir-Abdollahian emphasized that these groups have made their own decisions regarding their actions.

Furthermore, the Iranian Foreign Minister expressed strong opposition to the spillover of the war to other parts of the region, citing Israel's genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip over the past 41 days. He highlighted Iran's reluctance for the crisis to expand, but blamed the intensification of the war in Gaza on the US, which has been supporting Israel.

Amir-Abdollahian also dismissed allegations that Iran was responsible for a drone attack in the Red Sea, which appeared to be targeting a US missile destroyer. The Pentagon claimed that the guided-missile destroyer USS Thomas Hudner shot down the drone early Wednesday morning, originating from Yemen and heading towards the ship. However, the Iranian Foreign Minister stated that Yemen acts independently and makes its own decisions.

On November 8, Yemen's Armed Forces announced the shooting down of an advanced American drone, stating that it occurred while the aircraft was operating in support of the Israeli regime.

In a recent incident, the MQ-9 Reaper drone was shot down by a surface-to-air missile while flying over Yemen's territorial waters. The drone was reportedly involved in a "hostile espionage" operation as part of the United States' military support for Israel.

This event highlights the increasing threats faced by the United States in the region, particularly since the start of Israel's intense conflict with Gaza. US bases in Syria and Iraq have been targeted multiple times by drones and rockets, raising concerns of a potential escalation in the region.

Israel has been carrying out relentless air and ground attacks on Gaza, specifically targeting hospitals, residences, and places of worship. These attacks began after Palestinian resistance movements launched Operation al-Aqsa Storm on October 7. Tragically, according to the Gaza-based health ministry, the strikes have resulted in the deaths of at least 11,500 Palestinians, including 4,710 children, and left over 32,000 others injured.

Furthermore, Tel Aviv has imposed a complete siege on Gaza, severely restricting the flow of fuel, electricity, food, and water to the more than two million Palestinians living there.
