Iran's Mineral and Mining Exports Surge by 7.5% in the First Seven Months of the Year

Iran has witnessed a significant boost in its mineral and mining exports during the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year.

Iran (IMNA) - The country exported a whopping 35.87 million tons of minerals and mining products, with a total value surpassing $7.4 billion. This represents a remarkable 7.5% increase compared to the same period last year.

Furthermore, the report highlights that the weight of exports from this sector experienced a notable surge of 37% during the mentioned time frame. In the previous year's corresponding months, Iran had exported 26.03 million tons of minerals and mining products valued at $6.9 billion.

Among the commodities leading the export charts in this sector were steel and steel products, followed closely by copper and its byproducts, aluminum, and related items, as well as various downstream products.

With an impressive collection of 81 different types of minerals, Iran proudly ranks among the top 10 mineral-rich countries worldwide. Consequently, the Iranian government has been actively implementing numerous programs aimed at boosting the mining sector's contribution to the nation's economic growth.

The country boasts vast reserves of valuable resources, including 2.7 billion tons of proven iron ore reserves, 2.6 billion tons of copper reserves, and 11 million tons of zinc reserves. Moreover, the Industry, Mining, and Trade Ministry's exploration programs covering over 500,000 square kilometers of new mineral zones are expected to raise Iran's total proven reserves from the current estimate of approximately 60 billion tons to more than 100 billion tons in the future.
