Isfahan expecting to host UNESCO Creative Cities Network Annual Conferences

Isfahan announced its official candidacy application to host the UNESCO Creative Cities Network Annual Conferences in 2025.

Iran (IMNA) - The Network, which includes over 300 cities around the world, covers seven creative fields: Crafts and Folk Art, Media Arts, Film, Design, Gastronomy, Literature, and Music. Isfahan joined the Network as a creative city of handicrafts and folk arts. Rasht and Kermanshah have made it to the UCCN as the creative cities of gastronomy. Furthermore, Sanandaj and Bandar Abbas have also been designated as the creative cities of music and crafts and folk art, respectively.

The Municipality is hopeful that the city will be able to outdo other candidates and hold this conference owing to its excellent capabilities as being the home of half of all Iranian handicrafts and historical and touristic attractions as well, which will compete with five other locations.

According to the UCCN’s board of directors, the cities of Isfahan in the Islamic Republic of Iran and Chiang Mai in Thailand are the main options for hosting the conference; however, Isfahan has a better chance of winning the right to hold the conference due to its historical background and diversity of handicrafts.
