On margins of Moscow summit, Iran's Foreign Minister meets separately with his Turkish, Russian opposite numbers

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Turkish opposite number, Mevlut Cavusoglu, met and conferred in Moscow on the margins of a four-party conference of Turkey, Syria, Russia, and Iran's foreign ministers.

Iran (IMNA)- The two officials met behind closed doors in Moscow on Wednesday to discuss "issues of mutual interest," according to reports, with the strengthening of bilateral connections in the domains of commerce, transportation, and tourism at the top of the agenda.

Amir-Abdollahian emphasized the quadrilateral meeting of the four nations' foreign ministers on Syria, calling the talks "positive and a step forward," adding, "We will continue our efforts to make these talks a success."

Cavusoglu, for his part, emphasized the importance of the Islamic Republic of Iran's participation in convening the four-party summit and praised Tehran for its "positive and constructive" stances in this respect.

The Turkish foreign minister also praised Iran's cooperation and delivery of humanitarian aid to victims of the country's recent earthquake.

The two diplomats addressed the battle against terrorism, political processes, and humanitarian issues, including the voluntary, safe, and respectable return of Syrian refugees to their homeland, during their meeting. They also discussed measures to repair relations between Ankara and Damascus.

Amir-Abdollahian stated earlier in the day that any political solution to Syrian-related issues must take into account Syria's complete sovereignty over its territory and that Turkey can play a crucial role in this regard at the quadrilateral meeting intended to promote peace between Damascus and Ankara.
