Iran hanged architect of 2018 Ahvaz terrorist attack aided by Sweden

Iran has hanged the ringleader of a separatist organization responsible for many terrorist operations, including the 2018 fatal terrorist attack on a military parade in the country's southern city of Ahvaz, which killed 25 people.

Iran (IMNA) - The execution sentence against Habib Farajollah Chaab, also known as Habib Asyud, the ringleader of the Harkat al-Nazal terror cell, was carried out on Saturday morning, according to Mizan news agency, which is affiliated with the Iranian judiciary.

On March 12, Iran's Judiciary affirmed the death sentence on "spreading corruption on earth through the formation, management, and leadership of a rebel group called Harkat al-Nazal and the design and execution of numerous terrorist operations in Khuzestan province."

Last year, he pled guilty and admitted to masterminding the 2018 massacre as well as several other terrorist crimes against the Iranian people.

Chaab acknowledged to being naturalized by Sweden and supported by the Scandinavian country's government, claiming he was given a gadget that alerted Swedish security authorities to rescue him anytime he was in danger.

The terrorist supported by Sweden was apprehended in November 2020 as a result of "specialized and combined measures" carried out by Iranian intelligence agencies.

The terror group Harkat al-Nazal has been waging an armed battle against the Iranian government in the southwestern province of Khuzestan, which is home to the country's Arab community.

It claimed responsibility for an attack on a military parade in Ahvaz, the provincial capital of Khuzestan, in September 2018, which killed 25 people, including members of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and civilian spectators, and injured over 270 others.
