Holding Khanqah music festival in creative city of music

The head of Social and Cultural Affairs Department of the Municipality of Sanandaj said, "Khanqah music festival will be held on the occasion of the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad ( PBUH) and the Islamic unity week in two sections of solo Daf and Moludi Khani –religious singing- in Sanandaj, UNESCO's creative city of music".

Iran (IMNA) _ "Sanandaj, the creative world city of music and the capital of Daf, has a long history in the field of Khanqah music as well as Moludi Khani," Sarkut Najafi said.

He continued, "The festival is an open access one in which all Daf players in both solo and band style can participate; the accompaniment of a Moludi reciter is mandatory for all participants who intend to participate in this festival as a group. The festival will be held virtually due to the coronavirus outbreak and the need for health protocol observance,"

The head of Social and Cultural Affairs Department of the Municipality of Sanandaj noted, "Music in Kurdistan, especially in Sanandaj, has mythical and historical roots dating back to the Ahura era. Music in Kurdistan is a melody for life, work, faith and love. From birth to joy and from mourning to prayer, music is part of the collective memories of the Kurds."

The city of Sanandaj is considered a center of Kurdish culture in Iran. Its residents are engaged in the production of traditional oriental musical instruments, especially drums. Also, Sanandaj has been recognized as the core of musical production in Iran, and home to some famous Iranian and international musicians.
