400 trees and shrubs planted in Chaharbagh Abbasi Avenue

"200 Ulmus Umbraculifera trees and 200 Lagerstroemia indica shrubs have been planted in Chaharbagh Abbasi Avenue," the CEO of the parks and green space organization of Isfahan municipality said.

Isfahan (IMNA) – "At the moment, I don’t know the exact number of the felled trees. Many trees in Chaharbagh Abbasi Avenue have been cut during years. When the guards around the subway workshops were removed, I felt really sorry for the city; the least we could do was the replacement of some trees instead of the felled trees in this area," Forough Mortezaeenejad said.

Emphasizing that the issue of cutting trees in Chaharbagh has been finished and it will never happened during the current management, she added, "A number of Chaharbagh trees such as elm trees have been damaged during the construction operations of the subway. However, according to the results of the conducted surveys of the agriculture experts of the parks organization, the felled trees were hollowed out, so they were cut because they could be dangerous for passengers."

"Fortunately, the soil with the depth of 220 centimeters has been provided for this organization to plant trees in harmony with the existing trees of Chaharbagh," she said. Saying that Chaharbagh Avenue is a part of the identity of Isfahan and its trees are the symbol of this area, she noted, "Resistant trees cannot be replaced with the trees of Chaharbagh Avenue, but we try to plant resistant trees which are similar to the previous species that were cut due to the construction projects."
