Isfahan owes its prosperity to Zayanderood

A professor from University of Isfahan said: "Historically, Isfahan has been a safe place to relax, think, and grow artists and always stayed away from politics matters. So, it has not chosen as the capital of the country so far.

Isfahan (IMNA) - "According to the history, Isfahan is one of the oldest cities in Iran and its ancient history is one of the best inspiring models of urbanization in Iran," Seyed Asqar Mahmoudabadi said in a meeting titled "The Historical Perspective of Isfahan".

He continued: "Isfahan is the quietest city in the country and throughout the history which has been able to develop and keep various cultures in itself. Isfahan was built since the time of the Medes who were professional urban planners."

The professor named Isfahan as the best anthropology museum in Iran and added: "Living in this historical and beautiful city is an honor because Isfahan is actually a little Iran."Isfahan gained its prosperity due to the fact that it is located near the Zayandehrood River. Therefore, it is worth mentioning that Isfahan is not alive without this river. We hope that the river flows again in its bed."

Stating that during the history there have been no deep studies about the history of Isfahan, Mahmoudabadi said: "Just 'Nina Pygluskaya', a Russian culturologist, has done an extensive research about the cities of Iran during the Achaemenid and Sassanid era, as well as social history and civilization of Isfahan, which are translated by 'Karim Keshavarz."

Mahmoudabadi emphasized that since Isfahani people are not interested in politics, Isfahan is considered as the cradle of artists and sophisticated people. The city never had a tribal potential to take the power and politics of the country. The city has also been the cradle for the writers such as Yaqubi who was the greatest scholar. Isfahan became the country’s capital only during the Al-e-Buyeh, Seljuk, and Safavid era. The Safavid era was the Renaissance of Isfahan which was the city's best historic period.

In spite of being a modern city with a dynamic civilization, Isfahan lost its importance in the first four Hegira centuries; the reason was an increase in deiranization in the second Bani Abbas period and the other reason is the religious conflicts during that time. An example is the conflict between the Hanafis and the Shafees which made problems for the dignity and importance of Isfahan. Then the conflicts were intensified by emerging of the Fatemiha.

This history expert, criticized the poor connection of people and history and said: "We are a historical nation, but we do not know our past history and have the least connection with it; this causes problems such as facelessness, disinterestedness, and indifference to our historical monuments. If we create the feeling of belonging to history and urban identity, people will take care of historical monuments. Not knowing the history is the greatest danger for the future of a nation. If we respect to history of our ancestors, our historical monuments also become valuable."

“Kaveh Ahangar is a mythological hero. Fereydoun is also a hero like Kaveh which guided people ang got the nation all in control.  It is noteworthy to mention that Iranian nation was born in the cesarean section of history and which is the worst kind of birth. We became the unified nation by fighting. Kaveh helped to give birth to Isfahan. Isfahan was the oldest useful city which grew up gradually by creating Iranian nation. We were born in that era and we are one of the most oppressed nations in history because we endured the most difficult conditions; so, we are proud of ourselves," Mahmoudabadi added regarding the return of Kaveh Ahangar Statue to Isfahan.
